“Your Personality creates your Personal Reality.” – Dr Joe Dispenza
I’ve just come back from a week with Dr Joe Dispenza, where we spent around 35 hours in meditation. One of those meditations was five hours long.
What an extraordinary experience. And not, perhaps, in the way you might imagine it to be.
This wasn’t primarily about becoming quiet, calm or still. The meditations involved breath, music and movement, alongside work with the energy centres, the heart, the brain and the pineal gland. There was a lot of energy moving through the body. There were moments of deep stillness, but there was also activation, excitement and inspiration.
I came home really energised.
Since returning, I’ve continued to meditate for around an hour a day, working with coherent mind, coherent heart, internal frequency, presence and possibility. And I’ve been loving it.
Bringing the Past into the Present
Over the years I have done a lot of work to understand what has shaped me.
I’ve gone deeply into my conditioning — into the atmosphere of my early life, the beliefs and patterns that were formed there, and perhaps even what I carry through ancestors before me. I’ve become increasingly aware of how my personality was shaped, and how that personality has, in turn, shaped the reality I experience.
The more conscious I become of my conditioning, the more choice I have.
And, I don’t want my life to be organised around endlessly reflecting backwards.
I’m increasingly interested in what happens when we turn towards creation.
What do I want now? What reality do I want to participate in creating?
Bringing the Future into the Present
I have been very focused on presence too — on being here, now.
But presence has another possibility.
What if I can be fully here, in this moment, while also feeling into what I want to create next?
Presence is about being fully here for whatever is here now and also for whatever is wanting to move.
I don’t have to leave the present to move towards something new. I can bring possibility into the present and begin to embody it here.
This is part of what has really intrigued me about Dr Joe’s work.
His teachings draw on ideas about energy, frequency and the quantum field. The framework we were working with was that everything is energy and therefore has a frequency, and that we can consciously work with that frequency.
The mind holds the frequency of the possibility we want to choose.
The heart brings that possibility into the body, allowing us to feel the emotional experience of it as though it were already here.
At the retreat, this wasn’t simply an idea. We practised it again and again.
The idea is to begin experiencing the possibility we want to create, rather than relating to it only as something that might happen in the future.
What happens when we do that?
Does it change the state we’re living from?
Does it influence how we perceive, feel, choose and act?
I was curious about what this practice might change beyond the meditation itself.
What might shift when the mind and heart are working together in this way?
This is where the word coherence has become particularly interesting to me.
Coherence and the State We Create From
For me, coherence is about bringing the different parts of myself into relationship — my mind, my heart, my body, my feelings, my knowing and my intention.
Rather than one part of me saying yes while another is pulling in the opposite direction, there is a sense of things beginning to move together.
I have often called this alignment. Full-body alignment. Head, heart, soul.
Coherence gives me another language for it.
Perhaps this is where coherence and creation meet: in the state from which I perceive, choose and act.
I’ve been touching into fear and scarcity recently — both in the world around me and, if I’m honest, within me. It is very easy to be pulled into what is happening around us and allow it to become the lens through which we see what is possible.
However, our perception is not neutral.
Our personality shapes what we notice.
Our beliefs shape what we believe is possible.
Our thoughts and emotions influence how we respond.
Our choices and habitual behaviours can reinforce the reality we have become accustomed to.
This is the question I keep coming back to:
If the state from which I perceive, choose and act changes, how might that change the reality I experience and the possibilities I can participate in creating?
The deeper I go into understanding what has shaped me, the more clearly I can see the patterns that have been running my life. And the more conscious I become of these patterns, the more choice I have about whether I continue to live from them.
This is where agency becomes interesting to me.
It is about recognising that I have a choice in how I respond, which patterns I continue to live from, and what I want to create instead.
The Experiment I Am In
So now I’m becoming equally interested in what I might bring from the future into the present.
What possibility do I want to feel into now? What do I want to begin embodying before there is evidence of it in my material reality?
As I wrote in my last reflection, a vision isn’t a blueprint for the future. It’s a compass that gently guides how we meet the present.
I don’t know exactly how all of this works, but I want to play with it and experience it directly.
What happens when I spend an hour each morning deliberately bringing my mind and heart into relationship?
What if I allow myself to feel the possibility of something before there is evidence of it in the material world?
I’m deep in experimentation with this now, curious to discover what I learn by living it.
And as I say this I notice how it speaks to something much bigger for me: my passion for the adventure of life itself — exploring, investigating, experimenting, learning through experience, and sharing what I discover along the way. If you feel drawn to explore these questions in your own life, I’d love to explore them with you.
